VIRTUAL REALITY

- WILL RAWLIN -

This week we caught up with Advanced International Event rider Will Rawlin. Will, a close friend of Moore EQ founder Conor Moore, has supported Moore EQ since day one, representing the brand in the eventing world. Will fills us in on what he has been up to during quarantine below!

We continue to train in these bizarre times but unfortunately, like everybody, we are unable to do the bits we enjoy the most and head out to competitions with a lorry full of horses. Here at Brook Farm, not far from Swindon, we have limited hacking so we are using some of the grazing paddocks to canter on and increase variety into the horses work regime. A couple of our younger horses are enjoying a few weeks rest in the hope that they can digest their recent training - hopefully ready for competition when the season eventually restarts (if ever!).

Last week I competed in my first 5* Virtual Eventing competition which was a welcome distraction and entertaining for everyone who watched and participated! The motive behind Virtual Eventing was to raise money for medical charities across the world who are all fighting against the corona virus (COVID-19). Together we have raised £170,000.00 and you are still able to donate now on www.virtualeventing.com. The competition ran in the style of an International 3 Day Event with plenty of new challenges for each rider, it was scored live and I finished in the top 5!

Aside from my Virtual Eventing debut, I have been doing what I'm sure many others have been doing too - countless sort outs, cleaning, tidying and organising the barns and plenty of field maintenance too. As unfortunate as it is that we are unable to get out and compete, I am very grateful that we have horses so that we are able to maintain a certain level of normality.
